Another day at sea and once again we saw some fantastic scenery along the way. This is really only the second day we've had of sunny weather – up until yesterday it was cloudy, windy and even rainy at times. Today was perfect. I spent the morning on our balcony reading as we sailed up the northern tip of Queensland, rounded Cape York, and picked our way through the shallow Torres Strait towards Thursday Island. It was fascinating as we constantly passed tiny islands and reefs dotted with small lighthouses which sported helicopter pads nearby that are now essential for lighthouse maintenance – work that was once carried out by boat is now done by chopper.
I did manage to put in a good hour at the gym and Gary also did some laps of the Promenade deck and rounded that off with some weights and stretches. He did say that he was having a neck and neck race with another power walker but was determined to gain ascendancy by “taking her on the near side and coming home strongly with a rails run.” When questioned further he did admit that this lady was aged somewhat over 70...probably closer to 80! Now he knows why I keep making him take the stairs!!!
I vowed that today I would try Bingo so after making my purchase of a few games and a pink Dabber (I was remiss earlier calling it a Dobber – a sure sign of a Bingo novice), I rolled up with Gary to vie for the now nearly $2000 jackpot. Unfortunately neither Gary or I was lucky enough to win a prize, let alone the jackpot.
I was very proud of my style though and felt that my “dabs” were superior to say the least. Unfortunately there were no prizes for neat “dabs”! We also stayed on for Trivia and did pretty well considering we were a team of 2 up against some very serious and intellectual looking teams of 6. Anyway it was good fun! Gary was particularly proud of his answers of “unicorn” and “Asia”...but if I could only remember the questions!
We also attended an early show tonight which was fantastic – some great singing and spectacular dancing – a Country & Western theme. As I type this now (approx 10.30pm), I am missing out on the line dancing on the open deck...it was indeed a tough choice...but you guys won out. There is only so much excitement one individual can safely experience in one day!
Another day at sea tomorrow. We thought we might try the dining room for brekky instead of the buffet...just for a change.

Hey Gaz, glad you made that 80 year old woman feel good for the rest of the day. I bet she went straight back to her cabin & befor showering, told her partner/girlfriend hwow she gave a young 'Whippersnapper" a run for his money doing a bit of rails run blocking. weel done, (your good deed for the day).
Great photo of the bingo card! - I reckon they definitely look like "dobs" NOT "dabs", and very neat ones too - hee, hee.
