Cruise - Day 12 - 14 Sep

Another balmy day at sea. We left Broome at 1am (not that I was awake for it) and have been sailing at full steam all day heading for the port of Benoa, Bali. The captain is determined to get us there a little early if possible as apparently the tenders take about 45 minutes from where the ship anchors to get us ashore. After yesterday's debacle (some people didn't even get off the ship until 5pm – it was all a bit chaotic), I think he is keen that there be no more complaints of passengers missing tour deadlines etc.

Anyway, we are certainly ploughing through the water at a great rate of knots...21 of them to be precise.

I absolutely cracked up this morning. After breakfast, Gaz said he was off to do his mile around the Promenade Deck and would meet me in the gym later. I went to brush my teeth before hitting the gym and what did I find on the bathroom sink? Gary's false teeth! Somehow (?) he had forgotten to put them in after he brushed his teeth and had left without them. He told me later he was about half way around his first lap of the deck before he noticed that he was a bit gummier than usual but managed to restrict his open mouth smiles to a minimum (wow, that would have been hard!) until he high-tailed it back to the cabin to rectify his obvious early signs of dementia. (I did manage, however, to capture the evidence for posterity!)

Nothing too strenuous today – gym (well, I guess that was a bit strenuous...), reading, eating, drinking, bingo, trivia and two shows. The first show at 2pm was a presentation from Trevor Knight (the singer we saw the other evening) who is also a Horse Whisperer and told of his experience with horses. That was actually very interesting – he tells a good yarn and also had some film of his horses. The second show (6.15pm) we saw today was a young guy who is a juggler/comedian. He was very good and managed to keep us amused for an hour or so before dinner.

We have dinner at 7.45pm and I must admit going to shows after that means they usually don't start until almost 10pm and I am prone to nodding off at that hour of the day, so I do prefer the early shows.

Well it's off to Bali tomorrow – say a prayer for calm seas!

Wow, you will either love or hate Bali - i went there many moons ago - i found the poverty distressing but hey Penny you have no doubt witnessed poverty in the many places you have been - watch out for those fake watches etc - and if you say I might like that or might like to buy all i can say is BEWARE! And don't drink the water!

Greetings travellers,
hey Gaz, you're not Robinson Crusoe whit the "fangs". I have a few gaps too and I can assure you I can scare most of those "door to door" people away if I slip mie out and growl. With the Mormons however, I have to tell them that we're devil worshipers and yell out to lee to warm up a few cups of blood.
I didn't think horses were allowed to be on board a pleasure cruise but who else would a horse whisperer whisper to?? If by some chance one got smuggled on in the storage area, I hope they don't let it in the pool super early in the morning - Ha.
Our prayers are always with you as you travel but we'll say a special one for the tender ride into Bali. I hope you go crazy spending in Bali and get heaps of cheap clothes, jewellery etc.
So long for now,
Frank & Lee.
