2018 Road Trip – Day 10 Cape Schanck, Flinders, Arthurs Seat, Dromana

Big day planned today so we mustered at 9:30am to set off on our adventures. Our first stop was to a Mineral Spa place to book in for me and Maz for tomorrow (yay) and to a golf course to book a similar time for Gaz & Kev for tomorrow. It was then on to the spectacular Cape Schanck Lighthouse where we (to varying degrees) walked the tracks to take in the spectacular views and scenery.

The weather was fantastic today – perfect – hardly any wind, sunny, no clouds, 24 degrees. We then drove to Flinders and walked along the massive pier, checked out some sea life (Gaz spotted a big stingray), chatted to the locals and generally took in the terrific spot. It was then on to a café Maz had heard of – Georgie Bass – for lunch and it was awesome – Gaz and I shared pancakes with Persian fairy floss on top – ahhhh! It was beautiful … and the others voted it the best for coffee so far.

We had been looking forward to the next spot – Arthurs Seat – and it was also pretty spectacular. We also met a couple of very cute dogs who travel around on the back of a bike wearing “doggles” ... yes, that’s right, doggles. The views and scenery in this part of the world (Mornington Peninsular) are pretty special – everywhere you look, there is another awesome spot. You can see Melbourne in the distance but it is a kind of vague silhouette. The bay and beaches are beautiful, and the Bass Strait side is beautiful too. They have a gondola from Arthurs Seat (a lookout) but we just drove up and back … though Gaz was pretty wary on the trip down around the hairpin bends – Kev thought Gaz didn’t trust him … and he was right lol.

After we got home, we all decided some serious beach time was called for and so it was over the road with beach chairs and umbrellas. For some reason I was the only one who wore swimmers – no idea why, the water was beautiful. A great way to spend an hour or two.

It was then nearing dinner time so it was off to the Harrods of the South (AKA IGA) to grab some food. It was a feast of sorts – pork belly, zucchini slice, 3 types of salad, potatoes, Turkish bread – yes, a veritable feast … and it was very yummy.

More adventures tomorrow – big day again, and can’t wait for the spa!
