2018 Road Trip – Day 11 Point Nepean, Sorrento, Spa, Golf

Can the weather get any better? We woke to another perfect day – temperature in the mid 20s, blue sky, no clouds, almost no wind. We headed off for Point Nepean, the very tip of Mornington Peninsula. There was no way we could take it all in – we would need a day at least, so this was added to our list of places to come back to one day. We did have time to look at the Quarantine Station which started in the 1850s and has had a long history … very interesting. The info centre provided free iPods with a great commentary – Maz and I availed ourselves of this service, walking all around the compound listening to the stories that told the story of the place. Gaz & Kev walked around with no direction whatsoever and then sat and waited for us. Not surprised!

Our next stop was Sorrento Back Beach – the ocean or Bass Strait side of Sorrento. It was another awesome sight. We found a great café there and the others had what they agreed was the best coffee of the trip so far. The view was to die for!

We then proceeded into Sorrento itself where we enjoyed fish and chips after a short walk around the shops. Very filling and very yummy.

After returning to our base at the caravan park, we then split into gender groups and Kev and Gaz took off for golf at Flinders, while Maz and I spent the afternoon at Peninsular Hot Springs at Fingal. The boys say they enjoyed their golf and said, once again, that the scenery was fabulous. Not sure about the scorecard… Maz and I loved our hot springs experience – the water was very hot, the scenery glorious … very relaxing. We went into about a dozen different pools, including a Turkish steam bath, Sauna, cold plunge pools, jet pool and spas.

We didn’t get back until about 5:30pm and it was off to the laundry for me. We had scraps for dinner as we were still full from lunch, had a few wines, played some Euchre with Kev and Maz (the boys won), packed for tomorrow’s departure, and then off to bed.
