After a lovely
night in our luxurious abode, we all assembled after breakfast to head off into
town. Kev & Maz, walking; Gaz & I in the car. Our first stop was Dirty
Janes, a large market-type store with an amazing assortment of … well … everything.
Some things looked great, others more like rubbish. There were lots of vinyl
records, earrings, antique furniture, books and all sorts of odds and sods. The
boys decided coffee was the go after a short wander while Maz and I spent a bit
longer inside.
Our next
stop was the Bradman Museum, obviously a must when in Bowral. Kev and Maz chose
to walk there. Gaz & I had been there about 30 years ago with the kids and
boy has it changed! It’s grown so much and is a lot more sophisticated – lots of
information, videos and so much more. You could spend the day there, but we
were happy with an hour or so and headed back home for a quick lunch and then
we were back on the road. Kev & Maz walked along the Cherry Tree Walk to
get home – lots of walking for them today!
Our after-lunch
activity was the Berrima Courthouse. An interesting history was delivered via a
film (that Kev slept through the majority of … well he had done a lot of
walking that morning), and a light show thingy that re-enacted a murder case.
All in all it was quite worthwhile. We were going to stop for a coffee at some
Book Barn on the way back but got somewhat lost and decided on a nice cuppa at
home instead. Meanwhile Kev & Maz had stocked up on the cleanskin wine –
that was definitely the important task of the day.
There was a
slight bit of rain in the afternoon while a storm raged to the north. This was
an added interest in our endeavours to keep the two cars parked legally and
close by over the last couple of days. There is no off street parking available
and limited untimed parking on the street so Kev and I have been playing a game
of who can get the best park at any given time. Kev has won hands down but I’d
call it a tie as for the first time since we got here we have both scored spots
directly out the front for an optimal packing experience and quick getaway in
the morning. Yay us!
Our
afternoon entertainment came from Maz who found a Top 100 songs list from 1972 and
had us guessing, buzzing in and having to sing the song in order to gain
points. As more wine was consumed, points were added and taken off for all
sorts of random reasons and the singing became somewhat raucous. Suffice it to
say, Gaz was the winner on the day, particularly when he deducted points from
me when I forgot words and was forced to hum and mumble through verses,
something that occurred more than once let me say.
Maz, with
some assistance from Kev then cooked us a sumptuous dinner – a double thumbs up
– which has set the bar very high for the remainder of the trip. A bit of TV
and then the first Euchre tournament followed with everything tied up – Gaz/Maz
v Kev/Pen 1-1.
